Andy...Lead Guitar

Andy Breyer born in Chicago, and raised in the NorthWest suburbs of Illinois, took an early interest in music at the age of
10.
While most of his friends were spending their allowance on cigarettes, he started buying records, often at used stores
to really build that collection up, starting out with such artists as the Beatles, Queen, BTO, Elton John, Ted Nugent, and
Aerosmith. Coming from a very non-musical family, he really had to try hard to accomplish anything. In grade school he wanted
to play the clarinet and took a musical aptitude test asking such basics as "is this note higher or lower than this note?".
After the test he was politely asked "How would you like to play trumpet instead?", and did that for awhile before
getting his first hand-me-down guitar from his uncle Stan at age 14.
After much trouble trying to play it, and hearing that Sir Paul McCartney strung his upside-down, he chose to try to learn
to play lefty. The problem was that no teachers really wanted to teach that way so he started learning out of books, getting
pointers from talented friends along the way. Nobody really wanted to start a band with him until about 1988 when he was just
getting ready to graduate from the University of IL in Champaign. The band fizzled out right before he moved on to Purdue,
and thus never got to play on that scene, so he's really looking forward to his show there 1/15/05, hoping to see old friends,
acquaintences, band-mates, guitar teachers, influences, etc., and see if anyone recognizes him as his alter-ego. In fact,
"Cry Tough" by Poison was one of the first songs he ever rehearsed.
He finally hit the Indiana scene at Purdue as co-founder of a cover band called Miss Conception. They started out as a
5 piece, with a twin-guitar attack with the other guitarist being Tom Greene (a future GIT graduate) who left the band pretty
early since they weren't quite as heavy as he was looking for. This forced Andy to step up, and even play guitar solos in
the middle of the set before he was confident enough to do it. At the time he would have preferred to be a studio musician
much like the Beatles in the latter part of their career. He then started receiving numerous offers to join other bands.

Full Name: Andrew L Breyer
Stage Name: Andy
Eyes: Been called every color in the book, hazel perhaps?
Hair: Brown
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 160
Favorite Band(s): Some are: Riot, Alice Cooper, Beatles, Scorpions, Kiss, Yngwie Malmsteen, Runaways, Nick Gilder, Indigo
Girls, Judas Priest, UFO, Plasmatics, Savatage,

Before Posin', his biggest claim to fame was a hard rock band called Twisted Johnson in 1994. They had a 3 song demo, and
supposedly a couple of the songs, including one he co-wrote (Nightmares) with his old singer in Champaign (Randy Wolverton)
received much airplay on Z-Rock in Texas which can be downloaded from http://hometown.aol.com/andybreyer. He really hoped
this band would make it big between the catchy name, twin-guitar attack, and numerous compliments such as "You're the
best guitarist I've seen since Diamond Rexx." It was during this time that Andy started Posin' as a side-project with
TJ singer Bob Philip.
Other highlights of his career include:
Played one song on stage with Ma Kelly at Nick's in Lafayette. They have many CDs out which you can find on ebay, have
an ex-drummer from Black Oak Arkansas, Cozy Johnson, and are from Indianapolis.
Opened for Under Fire (from Indianapolis) - a band that really should have made it. They do have 1 disk out. Also opened
for Tuff, Enuff Z'nuff, Vince Neil, and Firehouse.
Played with Tony Maughmer (on bass) in a cover band. He is an ex-member of Bobby Goldsboro.
Had the pleasure of playing with the Michael Bruce Group at an open jam night in '99 and was offered a spot in the band,
a European tour, and having my name in his biography but the band ended up losing members before I could decide. One of the
members was Troy Powell, who played briefly with Posin' before doing the Kiss Tribute thing.
Played some guitar on the snothead disk: "Each it and i" (say this out loud). One of his songs was featured
on Mancow.
Andy's latest claim to flame (ie fame) is his guest appearance on "Surreal Life" on Sunday,
April 30th, with his band Posin', where he was in a "Battle of the Bands" with the lead guitarist from Poison.
And now, we can all enjoy Andy in "Scarlett Fever", where he joins Paul, male vocalist and guitar, Bob on bass guitar,
Larry on drums, and female vocalist, Scarlett aka Loretta.

Let me Start by saying I LOVE MUSIC - ALL KINDS OF MUSIC! I have listened to music and loved it my
whole life! I studied classical and musical theater in school (mostly in college), but I like country, old school hip-hop,
Motown, jazz standards, and I even watch American Idol (eewwww!) auditions and all! But I grew up going to band practices
and falling asleep in front of active guitar amps, so I wound up being a BIT of a rocker. Of course, I strive for versatility
and soulfulness, but I guess rock is just at my core. I spent years listening to, and singing along with Pat Benatar, Heart,
Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top and Tina Turner just trying to rock out like they did and still do!
Now, I have to tell you that I didn't get into my first band until I was...shall we say...29? By then I already had 2
kids! The poor things (really, just ask them) had no choice but to come along for the wild ride. Actually my family and friends
are the ones who make everything I get to do possible. I am blessed to be surrounded by these fabulous, loving people (you
all know who you are!), and I am thankful every day!
Because of these people, I have been able to make up for lost time while still keeping SOME twisted sense of ... normalcy...at
least that's what I'm calling it.
Okay, so enough about everyone else -- back to me!
Once I got to sing in front of a band (Haight Street), I was instantly addicted! Aaaah--the adrenaline rush, the lights,
the music, the crowd...(ok, not always a crowd exactly, but we kept trying!) Then when I went to see Cathy Richardson for
the first time, I was inspired enough to learn how to play some guitar. That girl Rocks! Since then I've had the opportunity
to work with a number of bands and lots of great musicians in venues ranging from Riley's Rock House to Walter Payton's Roundhouse
to the Baltimore Lyric Opera House! Right now, between Scarlett Fever, JuJu Minstrels, The Warbrides, and Guitar Street Orchestra
I stay very busy doing what I really love to do. I definitely feel like I'm living a dream that keeps on going and gets bigger
and better all the time!
Well that's about it - thanks for checking out my ramblings. Goodbye for now, but keep a smile and I'll see you at the
show!

Bob Crews...on Bass

For all the fans who would like to get to know Bob the Bass player a little better...and yes he is single! Bob has been gracious
enough to send us a little information about himself and I quote:

I grew up in a musical family. I started playing piano as soon as I could sit on the piano bench. I took a handful of lessons
in 7th grade. I took up clarinet in 6th grade and continued to play it until 10th grade, then switched to tenor saxophone,
but continued to play both the sax and clarinet thru high school. In my senior year I started teaching myself guitar. Then,
I took a handful of lessons in college (E.I.U.).
I've been in numerous bands since 6th grade, beginning with a Dixieland Band where I played clarinet. In college I played
guitar in a band called "The Grooves" and sax in a college band.
During college I also played with a band formed with a couple of buddies I grew up with called "Chance" I continued
to play in "Chance" for a few years after graduating. We were pretty successful playing covers around Chicago's
Western Suburbs. I played lead guitar and sang a little, but I mainly sang back-up vocals.
After that band, I jumped into an original band called "Planet Strange" where I played lead guitar. We had moderate
success playing music for local radio, cable TV, and commercials. We opened for major acts locally, played in festivals and
other cool events. I still play music with "Planet Strange" periodically.
I also spent a few years playing Bass in the "Poison" tribute band "Posin" with Andy, who also plays
lead guitar with "Scarlett Fever".
Now, I play bass in "Scarlett Fever". Everyone in this band is a strong and seasoned musician that knows how
to bring it! We put on a good show, play a wide variety of songs...something for everyone.
Come check us out and don't be afraid to buy me a beer!"
Bob
Thanks for the background Bob! Now, if you have any more questions about Bob, be sure and email us with your inquiries, or
better yet, come out to see the band and ask him for yourself.
Paul...Vocalist & Lead Guitar

Paul
started his musical journey back in elementary school where he learned the fundamentals of playing an instrument; the coronet.
He added chorus whe he reached junior high school, and continued in both directions throughout high school and college. Paul
played for a variety of concert bands, jazz bands, and various vocal groups. At the end of high school, Paul purchased a $25
guitar and a $30 bass guitar from a flea market, and taught himself ho to play. Shortly afterward, Paul formed his first band,
Capricorn, that played a variety of music and was billed as "Music of The Beatles, Kiss, and Originals".
Paul continued
to work with a variety of rock bands covering everything from pop, rock, hair metal, and top 40. Paul has played with a variety
of lineups including Midnite Blue, Last Call, The Porter Brothers, and Precious Time (with Andy Breyer), and Pop Rocks. Paul's
last group was a wedding/corporate band by the name of Silhouette.
Currently Paul is working with Scarlett Fever,
as well as Masquerade (wedding/corporate group), Breakfast Club (80's New Wave), and The Captain Groovy Band (15 piece disco
show band), where Paul is featured as a lead vocalist/dancer (ha ha)!
Paul Garvas is one of the most talented guys I've seen in a long time. But that's not all...he is kind, considerate, and very
nice looking! (Makes me think of a Beatle.) He has it all...Heart...Warming!
